Saxophone Workshop
with Andy Scott 1-8 April 2012
Our Saxophone Workshop is a fantastic opportunity to spend a week working with Andy Scott and enjoy playing the saxophone with other enthuisiasts.
It is a chance to experience playing with other musicians in duos, quartets and a larger saxophone ensemble.
During the week Andy will run sessions about improvising and transcribing, composing and arranging music for the saxophone . You will spend time listening to and discussing the wide range of music available to the saxophone and beyond.
Andy is noted for his musical versitality and creativity as a saxophonist and composer and so will be convering many genres of music during the week- classical and traditional pieces as well as jazz, funk and maybe even a bit of rock and roll!!
During the week there will be 5 days of tuition split into 2 hour morning and afternoon sessions. Andy will organise a jam session one evening and there will be an end of course public concert . Wednesday afternoon is free to play or explore the surrounding area.
The relaxed and informal setting at La Moreau is perfect for indulging your passion for playing the saxophone and having a great holiday experience at the same time
The workshop is a unique week in the saxophone workshop/summer school calendar where you can really have fun and take full advantage of Andys vast experience in the world of music and music education.
Whether you are already an experienced player or someone having
lessons and playing on your own at home you can be sure that Andy will make sure that you get the maximum out of the week and go home a better player.
In 2012 we are delighted to welcome James Cummings ( Graduate RNCM) as course assistant to Andy. He will spend time coaching the less experienced saxophonists and playing the piano ( classical and jazz) , whilst Andy will work with the more experienced players. There will be one session daily where all participants rehearse in a large saxophone ensemble. The working atmosphere is very supportive and encouraging!
The Saxophone course is aimed at the beginner to the more experienced player. You should be able to read music.
Following the success of the concert in the bar at St Jean D’Angely in 2011 we will be looking to organise an end of course concert in 2012 featuring all course participants and Andy, followed by a meal and drinks.
