Angie Palmer

Angie Palmer has been described by Bob Harris as “ one of Britain’s greatest Singer- Songwriters”.  As well as playing her music on his various radio shows Angie has twice been invited to play live sessions on his BBC 2 Saturday show. Her songs have also had numerous plays on BBC Radio 6 and local BBC radio stations.

During her recording career Angies CDs have received four and five star reviews in both the British music press and the national newspapers. Her last two CDs were long- listed for the Mercury Music Prize.

Many have compared Angie’s songs with those of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. As a featured artist for HMV Choice Magazine they praised Angie’s songwriting skills saying that ” Not since Bob Dylan’s mid -60′s output has a singer jammed songs with so many high-culture reference points“. For other reviewers her genre mixing of country, blues and folk has led her to be called the ” British Lucinda Williams

Angie regularly tours the UK  and Europe, both as a solo artist and with her five-piece band. She has played all the major festivals, from Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk Festival to the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Angie is currently working on her 6th original album which is due for release in summer 2012.

 

In addition to recording and touring, Angie teaches workshops in songwriting. An experiences tutor, Angie taught songwriting for the renowned community music project ” More Music in Morecambe”. Angie has also presented songwriting and singing workshops for the UK Arts Council and for the Brewery Arts Centre in Cumbria amongst others.
